Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Renewed For Season Six
by Erik Amaya
While the future of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC seemed as perilous as the choices its characters must make in at the end of the fifth year, the program’s future is at long last secure.
Thanks to Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Twitter account, we know the program has been renewed for another year on ABC.

The program’s future had been up in the air since the network announced its move to Friday nights — a graveyard for shows — and the rumor that Disney proclaimed a season five renewal last year despite declining ratings and network disinterest. Ironically, the show found itself in its fourth year with three interlocking stories allowing the program to deliver a steady stream of payoff and setups while showcasing its terrific cast. Year five brought the group, led by Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) to a shattered future they are now trying to prevent. Meanwhile, Coulson’s injuries from the original Avengers film seem to be leading him toward death.
The season finale preview indicated not all of the characters will survive and episode, ambitiously titled “The End,” so it remains to be seen what sort of show Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be in the new year. Nonetheless, fans are happy to finally know that it will continue.
Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Fridays on ABC.
