The Legendary Tale Of Beowulf By García And Rubin Will Be Translated & Collected By Image

by Olly MacNamee

I love Beowulf. I loved learning about it on my degree course, I loved it as a perfect example of the Hero’s Journey and I dare say I’m going to love it as a new trade paperback edition from Image Comics’ by Santiago García (The Ladies-in-Waiting) and David Rubín (Rumble, Ether). Yes, there have been previous versions, but not from the pen of Rubin, and I can’t wait to read it.
We have the overview, and a trailer that really rocks! Appropriate for the forerunner of many a fantasy hero. If you like Games of Thrones, Lord of the Rings or even Conan, them you’ll want to check out the grandaddy of ’em all!

García and Rubín’s graphic novel breathes new life into the epic tale of BEOWULF, the myth that has endured for a thousand years and influenced generations of authors and filmmakers. In it, the monster Grendel has arrived in the kingdom of the Danes, devouring its men and women for over a decade—until the hero Beowulf arrives to save them.

Beowulf will be available in comics shops on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018.
