The CW has announced its Fall premiere schedule and, as always, the network’s superheroes will return across the month of October.
It begins on October 9th with The Flash and Black Lightning resuming their shared hold on Tuesdays. Wednesday the 10th sees Riverdale picking up the trial of Archie Andrews. On Sunday, October 14th Supergirl takes up its new slot on the network’s new Sunday night and Monday the 15th sees Arrow replacing Supergirl in the Monday/8pm slot. Curiously, Legends of Tomorrow will debut the following Monday, October 22nd, but considering it produces less episodes than the other shows, this sort of makes sense.
Other returning shows like Supernatural, Dynasty and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will also stagger their debuts across the month with new shows All American and Legacies debuting on October 11th and October 25th respectively. Popular shows like The 100 and iZombie will be held in reserve for the network’s mid-season.
It is interesting to see the network move all of the superhero content to the early part of the week and selecting Supergirl as the anchor for its new Sunday night block of programming. Staggering them across four nights felt like the right move a few years back, especially during the first crossover story, but one imagines this year’s crossover — set to introduce Batwoman into the main CW Arrowverse — will look quite different with The Flash concluding the story and Black Lightning not taking any part in it.
