Female Characters Steal The Show At E3 2018

E3 is always an exciting time for gamers and a big highlight is the convention’s showcase of trailers for new games. This year, several video game trailers prominently featured female characters. Even though the number of “female-lead” trailers was roughly a tenth of the total number of trailers showcased, it was still enough to be noticeable.
I’m highlighting this because I see more females characters as a positive thing and worth celebrating. These are female characters in AAA video game franchises with high production values. The games also look stellar and thankfully aren’t the derivative, “Mrs. Pacman” variety. People play and enjoy video games regardless of their sex–it’s nice to see the medium representing the community.
