J.B. Smoove To Join Spider-Man: Far From Home

With Spider-Man: Far From Home heading into production, casting announcements have been quite sparse. But it seems that drought of information is at and end. According to Deadline, Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s J.B. Smoove will join the film’s cast.
As tends to happen with Marvel production, Smoove’s role is unknown, but the site claims it is a “lead in the ensemble.” Smoove is the first name added to the cast since Jake Gyllenhaal was first revealed as marquee villain Mysterio — though that is still unconfirmed — a few months back. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker, with Zendaya, Marisa Tomei and Michael Keaton also reprising their roles from Spider-Man: Homecoming. The plot is also under wraps with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige cheekily referring to it as a “vacation.”
The studio boss previously alluded to the film as the first taste of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4, which is said to have more of a cosmic focus than the previous three phases. How that ties into the Queens-set Spider-Man cycle remains to be seen.
Spider-Man: Far From Home opens on July 5th, 2019.
