SDCC 2018: Umbrella Academy Returns In October With Hotel Oblivion

by James Ferguson

As Dark Horse have been teasing for some time, Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá are joining forces once again for Umbrella Academy in Hotel Oblivion. The new seven-issue mini-series from Dark Horse Comics finally has a release date and is set to debut in October 2018. Nick Filardi is on board to color the book and Nate Piekos will be lettering.

The series picks up with the Umbrella Academy scattered after Sir Reginald Hargreeves’ death. Number Five is a hired gun, Kraken is off stalking big game, Rumor is dealing with her wrecked marriage, a chubby Spaceboy is wandering the streets of Tokyo, Vanya is in the midst of physical therapy after taking a shot to the head…and no one event wants to mention Seance.

This new mini-series comes at a great time as a Netflix series based on the comic is set to debut soon. If you don’t want to wait until October for more Umbrella Academy, Dark Horse will have some special exclusive merchandise on hand at San Diego Comic Con. You can pick up an Umbrella Academy Hazel and Cha Cha Enamel Pin featuring the heads of both ultra-violent villains in a .125” pin. These are limited to 1,000 pins for $10 each. Also available is an Umbrella Academy Crest T-shirt for $25 each. Only 400 are available.
