Legendary Lord Of The Rings Illustrator Alan Lee Touring Waterstones This Summer
by Olly MacNamee
From time to time British booksellers Waterstones can offer up some remarkable guest authors and artists to come and talk at some of their larger, urban-based stores. As such, this August, Waterstones are hosting a series of talks with legendary fantasy artist, Alan Lee, who is best known for his work illustrating J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, and later working on the films. If you are familiar with his work, you can see his influence written large on each and every scene of these films, and The Hobbit trilogy, too.
With the publication of The Fall of Gondolin, Lee is touring the lengths and breadths of Britain, and with my ticket now bought for Birmingham, I’m happy to share this information with you all, as I imagine it’ll sell out quickly.
He’s been a firm favourite of mine since childhood when I was bought a special anniversary edition of The Lord of The Rings packed full of Lee’s illustrations. Now, I finally get to meet him and get that 20+ year old book signed.
Another life goal achieved!
