Sam Witwer To Join Supergirl As Agent Liberty

Supergirl has found a new antagonist.
Entertainment Weekly reports Smallville veteran Sam Witwer will recur on the program’s fourth season as Agent Liberty. Created by Dan Jurgens in 1991, the character was originally a disenchanted CIA operative who went to work for the anti-government Sons of Liberty. Initially presented as foe for Superman, the two eventually became allies during successive alien invasions. Once Agent Liberty learned of his organizations true intentions, he went vowed to take down the Sons of Liberty.
On Supergirl, the character will be presented as a fantastic orator and family man who uses his gift of gab to foment anti-alien sentiments in National City. As opposed to the CIA agent with a supersuit and a penchant for going rogue, the television version will be the “terrifying founder and figurehead of Children of Liberty, a hate group that supports a human-first world order.”
Witwer played Davis Bloome, the human persona of Doomsday, throughout the eighth season of Smallville. He also doubled for Zod, Davis’s genetic father, in the season finale. He also played Crashdown in the early seasons of Battlestar Galactica and emerged as the definitive voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
