Wonder Woman 1984 Adds Natasha Rothwell

Insecure‘s Natasha Rothwell is headed to the DC Films version of 1984.
Deadline reports the actor has been cast in Wonder Woman 1984. Her role is yet unknown, but will presumably expand the scope of the Wonder Woman sequel. Set in 1984, Diana (Gal Gadot) makes her first trip to the United States to face the fashions of the era and the threat of Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah. The film also features Pedro Pascal and Chris Pine.
Although, it is still unclear just who Pine is playing. During their appearance in Hall H at Comic-Con International: San Diego on Saturday, the cast — and director Patty Jenkins — was mum on why Pine is in the sequel if his character from the first film, Steve Trevor, died in 1917 saving western Europe from a biological attack. His death was also touched upon in Justice League as a catalyst for Diana’s 100-year seclusion, but photos from the 1984 set suggest the film series will be setting aside that concept. Maybe it will also set aside Steve’s death.
Wonder Woman 1984 opens on November 1st, 2019.
