More Details On Riverdale’s Flashback Episode Emerge
by Erik Amaya
A few weeks ago at Riverdale‘s Comic-Con International: San Diego panel, the stars and executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Sarah Schecter revealed plans for a flashback episode in which the younger cast play their parents. And thanks to The CW’s on-going presentation at the Television Critics Association Summer press tour on Monday, we known a few more details about the episode; including when it will air.
According to TV Guide’s Damian Holbrook, who helpfully posted the info to Twitter, the episode will be called “The Midnight Club,” homage the 1985 film The Breakfast Club and air as the fourth episode of the third season. While it is unclear if teen investigators Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) will be privy to what their parents experienced as teens, viewers will learn about a “really dark secret” characters like Alice (Madchen Amick) and F.P. Jones (Skeet Ulrich) have been keeping since they went to Riverdale High.
Or, I guess with the characters I highlighted, Southside High.
With Riverdale returning on October 10th, expect “The Midnight Club” on October 31st. A strangely fitting night provided the program is not preempted for a Halloween themed special.
Meanwhile, according to The Wrap, Hal Cooper’s (Lochlyn Munro) unmasking as the Black Hood last season does not mean he’s out of the picture. Also appearing at TCA on Monday, he told reporters his character’s story continues. “I have so much knowledge now to bestow upon Betty,” he said. Is it possible that knowledge will lead to the secret his generation has been keeping all this time? It’s Riverdale, so maybe.
