by Erik Amaya

Kerry Washington will star in and executive produce an adaptation of Boom! Studios’ Old City Blues. Pirates of the Caribbean’s Gore Verbinski will direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Written and drawn by Giannis Milonogiannis, the graphic novel takes play in and around the ruins of a 2048 Greece. In a “New Athens” of high-tech smugglers, drug dealers, corrupt politicians and powerful corporations, the New Athens Special Police attempt to maintain the peace after the cyborg founder of a tech company is found dead. But when the corporation’s response to the death puzzles the police, one detective decides to learn the truth.
It is unclear who Washington will play in the potential series, which is being developed for Hulu, but a writer’s room has been assembled with Outcast‘s Chris Black set to serve as executive producer and showrunner. Arash Amel and Verbinski will also serve as executive producers.
Should Hulu pick up the series, it is unknown how quickly it will be released.
