Karl Urban Is Not Attached To Judge Dredd Mega City One TV Series

by Erik Amaya

Sometimes, it seems the Judge Dredd television series, Mega City One, is being willed into existence by fans of the character. But there is also a large contingent of fans of the film Dredd who would like to see star Karl Urban put the helmet on once again and mete out justice. But the actor recently admitted that he is not involved in development of the series.
According to TrekMovie, the actor appeared at the Trekonderoga convention, where he talked about the parallel Star Trek sequel productions and Mega City One. Clarifying that he not attached to the series — which means no formal contract exists between him and the producers — he said, “I did have a preliminary round of conversations with them. I am interested in doing it. There are a lot of great stories to tell there.” The series, according to Urban, will focus more on younger Judges with Dredd taking up a supervisory role.”I said that I’ll do it, but it has to be done in a meaningful way. I can’t just come on and grunt and pull faces, there has to be a story there for him,” he explained.
“I don’t know really where they are in the stages of development,” he added. “If I get the opportunity, great, otherwise some else will do it, and we can all see some more Judge Dredd.”
As an independent production, securing Urban’s return would definitely help make the series a reality, but it appears the production has not met the actors concerns yet.
Mega City One will debut before the Atomic Wars.
