DreamWorks Television has released a short teaser trailer for the upcoming She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. In it, a voice calls to Adora (Aimee Carrero) asking her to help restore the balance. Like the viewer, she doesn’t quite understand what’s happening, but the magical girl transformation at the end will tell you everything you need to known about the show.
The new series, from DreamWorks Television, is executive produced by Nimona author Noelle Stevenson and features the voices of Carrero, AJ Michalka, Karen Fukuhara and Marcus Scribner. As in the Masters of the Universe era, Adora is an orphan in the service of The Horde. Unbeknownst to her, they are an occupational force trying to enslave a planet. But Adora’s situation changes when she discovers a magical sword. Stevenson told Teen Vogue she retained much of the character’s origin from the original series because ” it’s about this female hero with such a complicated and interesting backstory.” Which suggests her family will likely appear at some point. But in the meantime, the series will establish a rebellion struggling against The Horde and their newest member, a defector with an incredible power.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power launches November 16th on Netflix.
