If you’ve somehow been sleeping on the current Archie series, you missed out on a stellar run of comics. Don’t worry though. There’s still time to catch up. Archie #699, coming next month is your opportunity to catch up on the entire saga before the monumental issue #700. Archie Comics has provided an early look at the book which you can check out below.
Archie #699 has the title character reflecting back on his past storylines, including the #LipstickIncident, the arrival of the Lodge family, the machinations of the Blossom Twins, the near-tragedy of “Over the Edge” and more. It’s based on stories from writers Mark Waid and Ian Flynn and features artwork from a number of contributors to the series including Fiona Staples, Veronica Fish, Joe Eisma, Pete Woods, Annie Wu, Audrey Mok, Andre Szymanowicz, Jen Vaughn, and Kelly Fitzpatrick.
This is a clip show in comic book form, but it’s the perfect jumping on point for anyone interesting in checking out Archie. The series has been fantastic since the relaunch so if you missed this and didn’t pick up the trades, this is a quick way to get up to speed before the new creative team of Nick Spencer and Marguerite Sauvage jumps on board with issue #700.
Archie #699 features a cover by Marguerite Sauvage. The 32 page comic is set for release on October 3rd, 2018 and it will retail for just $1. The final order cutoff date for comic shops is Monday, September 10th.
