Thought Bubble 2018: Rob Williams Gives Advice On Pitching For 2000AD
by Olly MacNamee
2000AD have once again given would-be ‘Future Shocks’ writers a stab at being published in the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic with an open call for pitches this coming Saturday 22nd September at Thought Bubble. This is a rather unique and entertaining part of the festival and open on a first-come, first-serve basis and is always a very popular event.
Well, previous judge, writer Rob Williams (Judge Dredd, Suicide Squad), has offered these hopefuls a few tips on story structure on his blog here. May be worth reading if you fancy your chances. He gives a great, simple breakdown of the three act story structure, using Jaws as his example. Well worth the read if you are thinking about pitching on Saturday, or if you’re simply a budding writer. It’s good, no-nonsense advice that’s worth your time.
Just don’t mention ‘dystopian future‘.
The 2000 AD Writing Competition 2018 is on Saturday 22nd September in the Carriageworks Studio Theatre (5th Floor) 3 Millennium Square LS2 3AD from 12:00 – 12:50pm.
