Osprey Games Announces Judge Dredd: Cursed Earth Card Game Art Team
by Olly MacNamee
Osprey Games, in partnership with Rebellion, publishers of 2000AD, have announced – or rather, updated us on – an all-new card game featuring everyone’s favourite future cop, Judge Dredd, and set in the radioactive wastelands of the Cursed Earth. This is as a further development to last year’s announcement, and seems to have come on leaps and bounds since then, with the announcements of more details and the artistic team, too.
Judge Dredd: The Cursed Earth is an immersive sci-fi western based on The Lost Expedition, the best-selling card game by Peer Sylvester. Players must lead a team of Judges against dinosaurs, mutants, and the Cursed Earth itself to hunt down a dangerous fugitive, before a gang of criminals can get their hands on him. As they scour the wastelands, the team will encounter a host of threats that will push their resources and abilities to their limits.
On an impossible journey through radioactive hell, can even the Judges survive the Cursed Earth?
Creating the original art for this game is 2000AD stalwart Rufus Dayglo and relative newcomer to 2000AD, Dan Cornwell, who came to prominence on John Wagner’s creator owned soccer series, Rok of the Reds.
Commenting on the choice of artists, a spokesperson for 2000AD said:
Rufus is well-known to our legions of fans and Dan is already making a name for himself drawing the new adventures of the ultimate lawman of the future – they’ve both brought new life to some of the classic locations and characters we all know and love from the past 41 years!
I can’t wait to see the full game when it comes out (soon, I hope) and see how it plays. I always loved The Cursed Earth saga, and any Judge Dredd stories set against that backdrop. A whole swath of America to explore and bring the word of the law down upon.
With a new date of February 2019, do keep an eye out on the Osprey Games website for any more details, or delays.
