Glenn Fabry Hospitalised With Lung Cancer

by Olly MacNamee

The one and only time I have ever phoned in sick was after the last ever UKCAC held in Manchester back in 1998. But then, I had been drinking heavily throughout the weekend topped off with a memorable night on the town with Glenn Fabry. He wouldn’t remember this encounter, but it meant a lot to me. I was studying for an Masters Degree in Media Research and was looking at female representation in comics as my thesis. I was lucky to be able to quiz the likes of Alex Ross and Dan Abnett during the weekend and one thing led to another, and drinking revelries ensued.

Now, I’m sure many people have found stories about their encounters with comic book professionals, but this one stands out as one of the more fun moments, capping off a rather mad weekend for me.
So, its with heavy heart that in a week when we heard of the passing of Norm Breygfogle, we bring you the news that Glenn Fabry (2000AD, Preacher) s currently suffering from lung cancer.
We all wish him well in his treatment, and hope he can kick this most vicious of illnesses.
All the best, Glenn! Our thoughts are with you.
