NYCC 2018: More Avatar Comics Coming From Dark Horse

by James Ferguson

Dark Horse Comics has a thirty-year long history with filmmaker James Cameron, bringing his works from The Terminator to Aliens to comic shops.  Next year, that relationship continues with Avatar: Tsu-tey’s Path, a new comic serving as a companion to the 2009 film.

Avatar: Tsu-tey’s Path is adapted by Sherri L. Smith. The six-issue mini-series follows a proud Na’vi warrior whose life is turned upside down when Jake Sully of the Sky People arrives.  Next comes a tale of sacrifice and heroism set during the original Avatar film, revealing events that were only hinted at on screen.
This is something that I’m sure Avatar fans will be eating up. They’ve been teased for years about future movies, so hopefully this will whet their appetites and allow for more comics set in this world.
The comic is illustrated by Jan Duursema, inked by Dan Parsons, and colored by Wes Dzioba.  It will feature covers by Doug Wheatley.  Look for Avatar: Tsu’tey’s Path #1 at your local comic shop on January 16th, 2019.
