NYCC 2018: Lobo Makes His Krypton Debut In First Photo
by Erik Amaya
Look out, bastiches, Da Main Man is here.
Syfy has released this first look photo of actor Emmet J. Scanlan as Lobo. The infamous Czarnian bounty hunter will make his live-action debut in the second season of Krypton. True to his roots, the character will be the nigh-immortal superhuman who murdered his entire species as seen in various Lobo specials by Alan Grant and Simon Bisley. The character was created by Roger Slifer and Kieth Giffen in the pages of Omega Men, but came to prominence in the pages of L.E.G.I.O.N. and those Grant/Bisley comics, which parodied the merciless anti-heroes of the era while also giving DC a legitimate success in that market during the 1990s. Like Venom, he came to represent the heights of “grim-n-gritty” design.
On the series, he will continue his bounty hunter ways as a “genius level intellect when it comes to matters of warfare” who always honor the letter of his agreements. Which makes him a perfect addition to Krypton as it becomes home to more of the cosmic DC Comics Characters ill-suited for shows like Arrow and Gotham. Hopefully, this means there will be room for Space Cabbie at some point.
Krypton returns to Syfy in 2019.
