NYCC 2018: Nancy Regan Teases Deadly Class; Premiere Date Announced
by Erik Amaya
Syfy has released a new teaser for the upcoming Deadly Class alongside the news that the series will debut on January 16th. In the teaser, archive footage of Nancy Regan’s “Just Say No” speech counterpoints the violence the kids at Kings Dominion School of the Deadly Arts will experience in the first season. It’s about as pointed a statement about the Regan Administration as any you’ll find in the pages of Rick Remender and Wes Craig’s comic book.
As in the early parts of the comic book, the television series will focus on Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth), an “awkward outcast full of social anxiety” but “morally centered” as he enters the school. His goal: maintaining his moral code while surviving a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques, and his own adolescent uncertainties.
The series will also feature Lana Condor, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Luke Tennie, Liam James, and Michel Duval as other students. Benedict Wong will also appear as the headmaster.
Deadly Class debuts January 16th on Syfy.
