Gunning For Hits: A New Sex, Drugs & Rock And Roll Music Comic From Image

by Olly MacNamee

Here’s something a little bit different for comics. Award-winning music producer, Jeff Rougvie, known for his work with musicians such as David Bowie, Elvis Costello and many others, will team up with Moritat (The Spirit, Harley Quinn, Hellblazer) for an all-new, ongoing thriller series, Gunning For Hits from Image Comics.
The new series will be based upon Rougvie’s rich and interesting background in the music industry and draws upon experiences during  the ‘80s and ‘90s when record labels had more money than sense, and spent it equally unwisely. Sounds like a coke-fulled story full of sex, drugs and rock and roll. It’s also the time when the music business got more criminal and more corporate.

Set in the shady New York City music scene of the mid-80s, Gunning For Hits stars Martin Mills, a record company talent scout with an inscrutable past. Follow Martin as he attempts to sign a rock band that’ll conquer the world.

Even without any artwork, I’m betting on this one. Who doesn’t like a good semi-autobiographical peer behind the curtain and into a world of excessive and hedonistic world of music? Plus, each issue comes with a Spotify playlist too.
Gunning For Hits # 1 will be out Wednesday, January 9th, 2019.
