Big Adventure Fest prides itself in providing a multitude of experiences for their attendees. Fans can enjoy music, comedy, cosplay, gaming and a comic con all in a single event. The exhibit area provided a nice, intimate environment for meeting top notch creators like Becky Cloonan, Jody LeHeup and Ramon Villalobos. There were also publishers Skybound Entertainment, Top Cow and Boom! Studios tabling for people looking to purchase comics and graphic novels.
The comedic talent was very entertaining. Maria Bamford opened up providing a good, humorous set followed by Ron Funches, who the audience loved. My personal favorite was Rhys Darby. His bits were silly and fun but his storytelling and physical comedy elevated them to another level. In particular his audition for Westworld had me cracking up so hard my side began to cramp.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay for any of the musical performances and I regret not seeing Cold War Kids. Big Adventure Fest was a quality show and you can see scenes from Day 2 below:
