Arthur Searches For His Trident And His Destiny In Final Aquaman Trailer
by Erik Amaya
Warner Bros. Pictures has released the final trailer for December’s Aquaman. And if Queen Atlanna’s (Nicole Kidman) opening narration is to be believed, Arthur (Jason Momoa) may have a important destiny to fulfill.
The trailer also answers the pesky question about his Justice League trident. It is not the one with the power to restore Atlantis and bring balance between it and the surface world. Finding it appears to be Arthur and Mera’s (Amber Heard) quest. Which makes one wonder if Arthur’s mentor Vulko (Willem Dafoe) will be long for this world.
To be honest, Aquaman looks like a glorious, strange cartoon. Which might be the right tone. Some of that underwater fighting looks cool and there’s just something so appealing about a shark-mounted army and giant sea creatures that, hopefully, the film will embrace its silly side and do some cool things with it. Considering director James Wan and his team sold the look of Jason Momoa in the classic Aquaman suit, they could pull off the flights of fancy which typically relegate the character to a jokey status.
Aquaman arrives in theaters on December 21st.
