Black Hammer Ventures Into World War II With New Mini-Series

by James Ferguson

Black Hammer continues to test the limits of the super hero genre. This March, the series goes back to World War II with Black Hammer ’45: From the World of Black Hammer #1 from Dark Horse Comics. Jeff Lemire has enlisted writer Ray Fawkes and artist Matt Kindt to tell a story of the Golden Age of Super Heroes. Set in 1945, an elite crew knew as the Black Hammer Squadron fights Nazis, a bunch of occult threats, and their ultimate aerial nemesis, the Ghost Hunter.

Jeff Lemire says:

Matt Kindt and Ray Fawkes are two of my best friends. They also happen to be two of my favourite creative forces on the planet Earth. They idea of unleashing them as a team into the universe of Black Hammer was way too much fun to pass up. What they’ve come up with is unlike anything we have seen in the Black Hammer Universe yet. It’s fun, it’s crazy and it looks amazing.

Black Hammer has quickly become one of my favorite super hero comics so anything more from this world is definitely welcome. Black Hammer ’45: From the World of Black Hammer #1 is set for release on March 6th, 2019.
