Lauren Gets Ready For A Darker World In A Preview Of Next Week’s The Gifted

by Erik Amaya

The Gifted returned on New Year’s Day with an episode as light-hearted as the X-Men series can get at this point. Despite John (Blair Redford) getting hit with shotgun blasts and the Strucker parents seeing just how much Andy (Percy Hynes White) has changed, the reunion of the six principle characters offered a counterpoint to the division and darkness of the second season. But if this preview of next week’s episode is to be believed, the darkness is set to envelop Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind).

While the series has maintained much of the quality of the first season, it has lost some spark. And it seems it was lost by dividing the main team. Intellectually, it offers the show a larger canvas, but at the cost of some of its charm. Hopefully, last night’s episode will lead to the group reforming on a more permanent basis even if Lauren has to go through the heart of darkness to make it happen.
The Gifted airs Tuesdays on Fox.
