Sony has finally released a trailer for next summer’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. In it, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and his class take a trip to Italy. And for the duration, Peter plans to be Spider-Man no more, but Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) have other ideas for the webhead.
Bright and colorful, this seems like a million miles away from the grit of Avengers: Infinity War. So much so, you almost have to wonder if this material predates the events of that film. Sure, Avengers: Endgame will have resolved the long-standing plot lines, but it is always possible this takes place in the gulf of time between Spider-Man: Homecoming an Infinity War. Then again, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige claimed this film would be the first glimpse of Phase IV, so …
Oh, also, did you notice Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) flirting with Aunt May (Marissa Tomei) instead of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.)? That is quite an interesting change.
