It seems the Riverdale musical will be something of an annual tradition.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Riverdale High’s musical director Kevin Keller (Casey Cott) has chosen Heathers: The Musical as its production for the year. Or, at least, he’s been told it is this year’s choice by Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch). Josie (Ashleigh Murray) will play Veronica while Veronica (Camila Mendes), Cheryl and Betty (Lili Reinhart) play the Heathers. Oh, also, it seems Archie (KJ Apa) will survive his wounds from yesterday’s bear attack to feature in the production. Guess that means you can expect him back in class soon.
Other surprising inclusions to Kevin’s cast include Fangs Fogarty (Drew Ray Tanner) and Evelyn Evernever (Zoe De Grand Maison).
Also, in the announcement flyer, it should be noted the production is being sponsored by the Farm, which means they may make their play for Riverdale before the planned March airdate. Maybe it’s an attempt to restore some sort of normalcy to the town? But considering the way last year’s musical ended, that seems like a reach. Or maybe that’s the real point to staging Heathers.
Riverdale‘s musical episode airs March 20th.
