Dark Horse Visits The Pride Lands With Lion King Graphic Novel
by James Ferguson
Continuing the trend with titles like Dumbo and Aladdin, Dark Horse Comics has announced a similar graphic novel anthology for the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Lion King, expanding the world of the new film, directed by Jon Favreau. Disney The Lion King: Wild Schemes and Catastrophes is written by John Jackson Miller. No art team has been announced yet.
The graphic novel takes us into the wild, through the vast landscapes of the Pride Lands for a closer look into the life of young Simba and what awaits him when he takes up the mantle of the lion king. There are four stories altogether. Other characters like Timon, Pumbaa, Nala, and Rafiki will be popping up along the way.
I’m a big advocate in these graphic novel tie-ins. It’s something that every comic book movie should be doing as it could help people get into comic shops. Dark Horse is building up an impressive Disney library and Disney The Lion King: Wild Schemes and Catastrophes is ready to join the fray.
Look for it at your local comic shop, bookstore, or Amazon on June 4th, 2019.
