Nia Embraces Her Destiny When Supergirl Returns
by Erik Amaya
Supergirl is taking a week off to avoid the Big Game, but when it returns, Nia Nal (Nicole Maines) finally embraces her destiny as Dreamer. And as this preview for the next show reveals, she’ll also embrace that costume her mother had made for her.
Meanwhile, Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer) gets an ego-boost from his son and the Children of Liberty renew their assaults on aliens and tolerance.
And though we had to get back to this story, the last two weeks have been a nice character-focused reprieve from a plot the show cannot realistically resolve. Consider the scenes at Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) apartment last night. They felt like a return to form even as they further current ideas. Supergirl just needs to recenter on the characters every so often so the hate they are talking about does not feel oppressive. Especially as the anti-alien sentiment will live on even after Kara and her team deal with this season’s specific threats.
Supergirl airs Sundays on The CW.
