Marvel Shares Details For FCBD Spider-Man / Venom #1 Issue

by James Ferguson

Marvel Comics has already shown off one of its offerings for Free Comic Book Day 2019 with a special Avengers issue, but that’s not all the free stuff the publisher will be giving out. Be on the lookout for FCBD Spider-Man / Venom #1 with two stories in one book.

First we’ve got a team-up between Miles Morales and Peter Parker for double the Spider-Man fun as these heroes have to save the world. The creative team of Tom Taylor, Saladin Ahmed, and Cory Smith aim to take these characters in a new direction that Marvel claims will build to one of its “most fantastic and epic tales” later this year.
On the Venom side, we’ve got a story from Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman sets the stage for one of the most frightening events in the Marvel Universe. This story pulls from classic Spider-Man comics like Amazing Spider-Man #252, The Spectacular Spider-Man #90, and Marvel Team-Up #141. I will admit that I had to Google these issues as I didn’t know their importance offhand. Marvel teases that “everyone is a target” in the summer of 2019.
The final order cutoff date for the Free Comic Book Day titles has been extended so you still have time to tell your local comic shop that you want this book. As a reminder, this comic will be available for free on Saturday, May 4th along with a number of other books, but they are not free for the retailer. They have to pay to stock them. If you go to a shop and pick up some free comics, please buy something while you’re there.
