John Tyler Christopher: There Can Only Be One Obi-Wan-Kenobi

by Olly MacNamee

Another issue of Star Wars gets the John Tyler Christopher (JTC) exclusive variant cover and this time he’s taking a shot at a younger Kenobi as played by Ewan McGregor on the classic Star Wars card.

This time round, this beauty will be appearing on the cover to Marvel’s Star Wars Count Dooku Special. And, as with his other variants JTC will be offering this one up for grabs and on pre-sale February 28th from his webstore here.

Here’s JTC’s take on this one:

There are so many versions of Old Ben, so I just had to take a stab (no pun intended) at on of my favorites. I was really considering going with the General Kenobi version, because I desperately want to work on characters from the cartoons. But man, I absolutely LOVE the Revenge of the Sith version of him. This is the version of him I always dreamed about as a kid. The Obi-Wan that fought Anakin, hid Luke, and exiled himself on Tatooine. When I played with the original toy, I always wondered what he looked like during that time, and I made up my own scenarios about how it all went down (and for the record I always had Anakin [who just happened to already be wearing his Vader suit] fall in acid [aka soapy water]).

These variant exclusives and to sell out pretty fast, so call this your warning Star Wars fans.
