DC Universe’s Titans Finds Its Superboy

After teasing the character at the end of the first season, DC Universe’s Titans has cast its Superboy.
TVLine reports Joshua Orpin will play the character, based on DC Comics’ Connor Kent, in the upcoming second season of the streaming service’s debut program. The characters is described by the site as an “‘angsty teenager of steel’ searching for purpose and the truth about his past, after apparently being experimented on by the nefarious Cadmus.” Created by Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett, the character first debut during 1993’s “Reign of the Supermen” storyline as a clone of the deceased Superman engineered by the mostly benevolent Cadmus Labs. But once the real Superman returned, the Kid of Steel’s true origins came to light. As it turned out, he was a genetic mash-up of both Superman and Lex Luthor. Though a solo character during “Reign of the Supermen” and his own Superboy title, the character eventually adopted the name Connor and joined the Young Justice teams alongside Tim Drake and Impulse. All three eventually became Titans, forever cementing them as part of that group’s lore.
Presumably, the Titans version of Connor will have a similar arc, just sped up in that bizarre way Titans tells its story. Which, of course, leaves one to wonder if Connor will say “F*ck Superman” in the first second season trailer.
Titans: Season 2 is set to debut later this year on DC Universe.
