Second Dark Phoenix Trailer Burns Across The Internet With A Stunning Twist

20th Century Fox has released a second trailer for the upcoming Dark Phoenix, the seemingly final mainline X-Men film in the series the studio initiated almost 20 years ago. And that finality seems to permeate the footage as Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) battles an alien force within her. Nevertheless, the trailer pulls no punches as one of Jean’s trusted friends quickly turns out to be her first victim.
Many of the previous film’s cast returns, including James McAvoy as Professor X, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Alexandra Shipp as Storm and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. But will this prove to be their real last stand before their world becomes the concern of another cinematic universe? Considering the tone of this trailer, it is entirely possible the Phoenix Force will wipe up every mutant on the planet while shutting the door on the current X-Men universe.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix opens on June 7th.
