The Professor Goes To War In New Tolkien Trailer

Fox Searchlight has released a new trailer for the upcoming film Tolkien. It tells the tale of a young J.R.R. Tolkien (Nicholas Hoult) as he invents the first of his Elvish languages, beings to develop his legendarium, finds friends, and courts Edith (Lily Collins), the love of his life. But just as his stories tell of great upheavals, Tolkien is shipped off to the Great War; where the bonds of fellowship are tested and the young author’s life is utterly altered. While the professor disagreed with the notion his own life created direct analogies in his stories, the film itself appears to suggest that, yes, his life was a great source of inspiration for Middle-earth and its characters.
Tolkien arrives in theaters on May 10th.
