Recognising that they’re onto something with their Vintage Vault covers that, up until now, have tended to adorn second printings of their popular books, Vault Comics have decided that all new titles will have a Vintage vault cover as a variant on their new #1’s.
You’ve probably already seen the homage to Geoff Darrow’s cover to Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson’s Transmetropolitan #1 that will feature on Test #1 from Chris Sebela and Jen Hickman and but here’s two you may not have seen yet. Queen of Dreams #1 homaging Mike Kaluta’s 1981 Madame Xanadu one-shot and She Said Destroyer #1 paying tribute to a more recent comic book classic, Saga #8. It’s a great, fun initiative and their choices have been pretty darn good so far.
Now, with so many UK creators on their books, maybe we could see a 2000AD tribute cover?
