Serving as a prequel to the original Snowpiercer graphic novel trilogy, Titan Comics and Statix Press are set to release a new graphic novel series starting with Snowpiercer: Extinction this year. Written by Matz (Triggerman, The Assignment), with art by the original Snowpiercer graphic novel artist Jean-Marc Rochette.
Here’s how the original series was outlined for anyone intrigued in this sci-fi saga:
Coursing through an eternal winter, on an icy track wrapped around the frozen planet Earth, a train travels unceasingly through the eternal winter. This is Snowpiercer: one thousand and one carriages long. From fearsome engine to final car, all surviving human life is here: a complete hierarchy of the society we lost. The elite as ever, travel in luxury at the front of the train – but for those in the rear coaches, life is squalid, miserable and short. Proloff is a refugee from the tail, determined never to go back. In his journey forward through the train, he hopes to reach the mythical engine and, perhaps, find some hope for the future…Discover for the first time in English the gripping and groundbreaking graphic novels that inspired the stunning new movie from director Joon-ho Bong (The Host).
It also spawned the 2014 film starring Chris Evans, as well as a forthcoming TV series centering on the remnants of humanity who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe starring Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) and Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Black-ish), will air in the U.S. on TNT and internationally on Netflix (excluding China).
Looks lie a big year for this little book. Care to join the ride?
