Boom! Studios has been rolling out a slew of all-ages comics and graphic novels in partnership with Cartoon Network. The publisher has announced the third original graphic novel in the Ben 10 series, Mecha Madness, coming in November 2019. Written by CB Lee and illustrated by Lidan Chan, the story follows Team Tennyson as they square off against the antediluvian villain Steam Smythe.
Ben 10: Mecha Madness picks up with Ben’s cousin Gwen as she discovers a mecha-suit left behind in disrepair by Steam Smythe. She fixes it up, much to Ben’s dismay. This might be the only way to stop the relentless Smythe and his army of mecha-creatures from putting innocent civilians in danger.
Writer CB Lee says:
I’m so excited to share this super fun story with readers! Giant robots, friendships and steampunk shenanigans abound in Mecha Madness! I loved working with BOOM! Studios and Lidan Chen on this adventure and can’t wait to share it with fans of all ages!
Artist Lidan Chen adds:
I am excited to illustrate another Ben 10 graphic novel, especially since both Ben and Gwen Tennyson play very important roles in this story. I love all the characters in Ben 10™ so I enjoy drawing them. And while drawing steampunk machines is a challenge for me, in the end, it’s totally a blast!
This is perfect timing as Ben 10 was recently greenlit for a fourth season on Cartoon Network, which is expected to start airing in 2020. This is the perfect way for kids who love the show to dig into comics and explore these additional stories.
Matthew Levine, Editor, Boom! Studios says:
Fans can get ready for CB and Lidan to bring the monsters, the science, and the fun with Mecha Madness. Family has always been one of Ben’s best resources in Ben 10 after the Omnitrix, of course, and this story is no different with Ben and Gwen working together to defeat the villain and save the day.
Ben 10: Mecha Madness is set for release in November 2019.
