Ghosted In LA Explores Love, Laughter, And The Afterlife This July From Boom! Studios

by James Ferguson

Writer Sina Grace and artist Siobhan Keenan are teaming up for Ghosted in LA, a new series coming in July from Boom! Studios. The comic is described as “a story about figuring out your love life – and your afterlife – in Hollywood.”

Ghosted in LA follows Daphne Walters who has moved to Los Angeles to follow the love of her life…or so she thought. When things don’t go as planned, she is now homeless and without a reason to be in this city. This brings her to Rycroft Manor, a derelict apartment complex that isn’t as abandoned as it seems. As it turns out, the Manor isn’t just full of mid-century charm. It’s also teeming with lovesick ghosts. Daphne needs a place to stay, but these supernatural roommates might be more than she bargained for.

Writer Sina Grace says:

I cannot stress how truly, utterly, unbelievably excited I am for Ghosted in LA. Shannon Watters is an editor who I’ve dreamt of world-building with, and Siobhan Keenan was the first person I thought of when considering artists to bring Daphne Walters and her spectral roommates to (un)life. This project is an absolute dream come true. I get to mix humor, the macabre, pop culture, and provide a fresh perspective on my hometown with one of my favorite comic artists . . . the ghosts of Rycroft Manor may reside in West L.A., but me? I’m in heaven.

Ghosted in LA #1 will feature a main cover by Keenan and a variant cover by Grace.

Artist Siobhan Keenan added:

Ghosted in LA is a dream to work on, having helped design a full cast of endearing characters! Drawing Sina’s writing, which has so much humor and heart, is an absolute treat for me. And I’m so excited to be working with BOOM! Studios on a project based in LA, a city I adore!

Ghosted in LA will be published under Boom! Studios’ Boom! Box imprint, alongside other titles like Lumberjanes, Giant Days, and The Avant-Guards. From the sound of things, it will fit right in with those other books, so if you’re a fan of those, you’ll probably want to check this out.

Shannon Watters, Senior Editor, Boom! Studios says:

Ghosted in LA is a fun and delightful rom-com about the things that haunt us long after they’ve disappeared from our lives, like exes and awkward moments, but also about how we move past them to live our best lives. Sina and Siobhan really capture the feel of living in Los Angeles where everyone comes to bring their dreams to life, no matter how difficult or impossible they may seem.

Ghosted in LA #1 is set for release on July 10th, 2019.
