AMC Announces Third Walking Dead Series
by Erik Amaya
Like a shambling corpse across the Virginia landscape, AMC’s The Walking Dead spawns a third series.
The untitled series, created by TWD‘s overall creative director Scott Gimple and frequent TWD writer Matt Negrete, will focus on two young women coming of age in the walker apocalypse with no memory of the world before. According to the official description, this new generation will still face familiar challenges as “some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.”
In a statement, Gimple said the series will see The Walking Dead franchise “taking our first step into an even larger world.”
That larger world also includes a number of TV movies featuring former star Andrew Lincoln returning to his role as Rick Grimes and the continuing events of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. AMC is betting big on the brand continuing to do well for them, with a ten-year roadmap lined out.
The third Walking Dead series is expected to debut in 2020.
