Disney+ Hawkeye Series To Feature Jeremy Renner And Kate Bishop

by Erik Amaya

Kate Bishop is Hawkeye.

Variety reports a Hawkeye limited series is in the works for Disney+. The potential program will focus on Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton — the Avengers character he’s been playing off and on since the first Thor — handing over the mantle of Hawkeye to a younger character called Kate Bishop. The site also reports the tone will be one of “adventure,” so maybe Clint will finally get to have a little bit of fun in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Kate first appeared in Young Avengers #1. Created by Allan Heinberg and artist Jim Cheung, she took over the Hawkeye persona while Clint was dead. He eventually got better and took on a new identity as Ronin, but the two eventually shared the Hawkeye name; though people on the street often expect Clint when Kate bursts onto the scene. She co-stared with Clint in the well-received Hawkeye comic book by Matt Fraction and David Aja, which eventually led to her own solo Hawkeye title by Kelly Thompson and Leonardo Romero. That series gave way to West Coast Avengers, with both Hawkeyes joining a team of misfits.

As Marvel Studios declined to comment on the story, it remains to be seen when the Hawkeye limited series will appear, but as big fans of Kate Bishop, we can’t wait to see who they cast in the part.
