Marvel’s The Pull List Gives A Sneak Peek To Some Big Summer Comics

In addition to publishing a slew of new books every week, Marvel Comics also pumps out a number of podcasts and videos. One such series, The Pull List, recently revealed some new insights into comics coming this July including the next big X-Men event, an epic clash in Fantastic Four, trouble for Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy, and a couple new titles. First up is House of X and Powers of X, both written by Jonathan Hickman with art and covers by Pepe Larraz and R.B. Silva. Marte Gracia is handling colors on both books. These were recently announced this at C2E2, but we didn’t have much to go on just yet. Here we’ve got some new covers which look rather ominous.


House of X has Charles Xavier revealing his master plan for mutantkind. Mutants will be brought out of the shadows of mankind and into the light once more. Meanwhile, Powers of X will reveal the secret past, present, and future of mutantkind and promise to “change the way you look at every X-Men story before and after.” That’s a pretty bold statement, but anything can happen with the X-Men.

Two new titles revealed during The Pull List were Loki and Punisher Kill Krew. The former is written by Daniel Kibblesmith and illustrated by Oscar Bazaldua. It’s an ongoing series spinning out of The War of the Realms. Loki has learned a valuable lesson in warmongering. Just don’t get caught. Thor is holding Loki accountable with a new set of responsibilities. Loki #1 features a cover by Ozgur Yildirim.

Punisher Kill Krew also spins out of Marvel’s latest event as Frank Castle looks to fulfill his promise of vengeance across the ten realms. He’s got a van full of orphans which are going to make things a bit more complicated. The six-issue mini-series is written by Gerry Duggan and illustrated by Juan Ferrerya. It features a cover by Tony Moore.

Guardians of the Galaxy #7 kicks off a new storyline called “Faithless” teased as the death of Rocket. Judging by the looks of the cover by David Marquez, it’s going to break your heart. The Guardians of the Galaxy are taking some well-deserved R&R after some recent events, but that’s cut short when a familiar, but radically powerful enemy returns. The book is written by Donny Cates and illustrated by Cory Smith, with colors by David Curiel.

Finally, Fantastic Four #12 gives us the latest round of an epic battle we’ve seen play out many times over the years, Hulk vs. Thing when the green goliath crashes Ben and Alicia’s honeymoon. We’ll also get the saga of the Future Foundation from Jeremy Whitley and Will Robson. The main story is written by Dan Slott and illustrated by Sean Izaakse. Fantastic Four #12 features a cover by Esad Ribic.
So, needless to say, there’s a lot going on this summer in the Marvel Universe. I’m most looking forward to the Guardians of the Galaxy storyline and the new X books. How about you?
