The Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Face A Foe With A Familiar Face In Season Six Preview
by Erik Amaya
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is back next week! But as this preview for the upcoming sixth season reveals, the team is still grieving the loss of Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). Mack (Henry Simmons) is finally, truly, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., even if he still believes he cannot all that great at the job. And just as the agency seems to get its footing back, they face a new enemy: Phil Coulson. It seems he’s an alternate from one another reality with the goal of destroying every Earth he finds. Will S.H.I.E.L.D. be able to stop him?
The show continues to be a reliable slice of Marvel-style action and drama. While maybe not as arty as the Netflix shows or as big as the films, it never stops feeling like Marvel comic book. And with the complete change in Gregg’s Coulson persona, we can’t wait to see how this new dynamic plays out. Of course, the show has been renewed for a seventh season, so we know someone will survive. But will it mean the return of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent we really love? And, while we’re talking about, how will the show reconcile the Avengers: Endgame chances to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? That’s another cliffhanger all on its own.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns May 10th on ABC.
