The voice of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s Peter B. Parker is making his way into another comic book inspired role.
TVLine reports Jake Johnson is joining the cast of ABC’s Stumptown. Based on the comic book by Greg Rucka, Matthew Southworth and Justin Greenwood, Smulders plays Dex Parios, an Portland-area army veteran with a gambling problem who has turned to private investigations to make ends meet. She’s quite clever, which means she’s just a likely to land up in a heap of trouble as solve her next case. Jason Richman adapted the comic book for executive producer Ruben Fleischer and ABC Studios. Besides Smulders, the series will feature Tantoo Cardinal, Cole Sibus, Adrian Martinez, Camryn Manheim and Michael Ealy.
Johnson will play Grey McConnell, Dex’s best friend who runs a bar and would like their relationship to be a little more intimate. Dex might actually feel the same way, but Grey’s past may get in the way of a change in their status. The character was originally played by Mark Webber in the pilot, but he left the series for unspecified reasons.
Stumptown airs Wednesdays this Fall on ABC.
