The Battle For The Arctic In War Of The Realms: New Agents Of Atlas #3
by Josh Davison
[*Mild Spoilers Ahead!]
Jimmy Woo and Amadeus Cho have their hands full in getting the New Agents of Atlas to work together. Sword Master in particular is resistant to working together, but Shang-Chi manages to change his mind with a little kung-fu persuasion. Jimmy and Amadeus formulate a plan and reach out to Codec of the Future Avengers, Red Feather of the Triumph Division, and Monkey King of the Ascendants. After sharing a meal, the New Agents of Atlas put their plan into action. Amadeus takes on Sindr and her Fire Goblins Seoul, keeping them from going through the Black Bifrost, and Aero, Wave, and Luna Snow go to the Arctic to undo the damage Sindr has done.
War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #3 has the team working together at last to stop the advance of Queen Sindr and the Fire Goblins of Muspelheim. The clashing cultures and concerns have proved to be a roadblock for the New Agents of Atlas, but food and the common good may just be able to get through to them.
Greg Pak displays an impressive ability to wrangle all the characters involved here. By now, I feel like I have a grasp on all of the new additions, and this issue adds even more into the mix–though Codec and Red Feather don’t receive that much attention.
The highlight of the book is Amadeus Cho putting it all on the line against Sindr and her Fire Goblins. It reminds me why Brawn is such a compelling character.
Gang Hyuk Lim once again gives New Agents of Atlas an excellent visual treatment, using his distinct style to give tons of expression and movement to the characters throughout. The big fight scene between Cho and the Fire Goblins is especially good. Color artists Federico Blee, Andres Mossa, and Erick Arciniega give the book a lot of texture and energy through their palette, and it does wonders for the story.
War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #3 is another solid spin-off book for War of the Realms. The story and characters are quite compelling, and the artwork is great. This book is easily worth a recommendation. Check it out.
