E3 2019: Marvel’s Avengers Distinguish Themselves From The MCU

by Gary Catig

Prior to this year’s E3, many fans were eager to learn more about the new Marvel game coming from Square Enix. The only things known were the title, Marvel’s Avengers, and the developers, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. The last reveal from Square’s briefing was a look at the upcoming game.

A tragic accident involving the iconic team causes them to disband. Afterwards all Super Heroes are outlawed but when the world is threatened once again, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes must reassemble to confront these new dangers. Marvel’s Avengers is an action adventure game that features both single and multiplayer options. Players will master abilities, collect a roster of heroes and create their own team of up to four players to defend the planet.

Scot Amos, Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics, says:

As super fans, working with Marvel and these characters is a dream come true and we are excited to finally reveal Marvel’s Avengers to the world. This is our original take on these iconic Super Heroes. Leveraging our companies’ combined experience in epic action-adventure storytelling, we’re building a universe that fans will immerse themselves in for years to come.

The title will come out May 15, 2020 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia and PC. Additionally, Square has formed a global partnership with PlayStation and will reveal details about the surprises for players on that console later.
