Spencer & Locke 2, the sequel to the Ringo Award nominated series following a detective and his imaginary partner is getting a trade paperback collection in August from Action Lab: Danger Zone. The series is written by David Pepose, illustrated by Jorge Santiago, Jr, colored by Jasen Smith, and lettered by Colin Bell.
This volume picks up with Detective Locke suspended by Internal Affairs and grappling with the demons of his past. Fortunately, he’s joined by his trusty partner / childhood imaginary panther, Spencer. The duo may have met their match in the scarred soldier named Roach Riley.
Writer David Pepose says:
We’ve told fans from the beginning that there was a much larger universe for Spencer and Locke to explore — and we’re excited to expand their world further with their latest adversary, Roach Riley. Half The Deer Hunter, half Heath Ledger’s Joker, Roach is only the beginning of Locke’s latest gauntlet, as every classic comic strip from your childhood will be fair game for parody in our action-packed sequel.
If you sit in the middle of the Venn Diagram of Calvin and Hobbes, Sin City, and Criminal, Spencer & Locke 2 is made for you. It also helps that it’s a pretty great comic. There’s still a chance to pick up the single issues, but if you want to wait for the trade paperback, it will be available on August 7th, 2019. It’s currently available for pre-order at your local comic shop and Amazon.
