The Justice Society of America is returning to comics and it ain’t in Doomsday Clock as you’d have thought. Rather it’ll be in Justice League #32 from Scott Snyder and and Jorge Jimenez.
But then, Doomsday Clock, as everyone knows, has suffered from delay after delay and now, a series that should have wound up its run last Fall, is still two issue off its finale, that should come out sometime in… oh, September, methinks!
Will there be a link up between the two, or will they run on two separate agendas, as both titles seem to have been doing for a while now?
What with Snyder offering up this own ret-conned history of the DCU while Geoff Johns is clearly writing his own origins of the selfsame universe. But with Dr. Manhattan as a guiding hand in its creation. And here I thought Rebirth was yet another chance at smoothing out the wrinkles and giving readers more cohesion. Is that plan now out the window? Are we to distance ourselves from events in Doomsday Clock as DC Comics seem to be doing?
Questions, questions, questions, but hopefully with some answers this September.
Here’s what Snyder said about this dream gig over on Twitter:
VERY excited to be able to talk about this finally! I’ve been waiting to write the JSA for a long long time – passion project and dream come true. Big big plans for them even beyond justice league…
Oh, and the return of Kamandi too in issue #31 (with art by the sensational Howard Porter), one issue before the return of the JSA! Why’s no-one talking about this? It’s all part of yet another huge Justice League storyline ‘The Justice Doom Wars’ and judging by the cover (above) it looks like another perilous, crazy ride.
Looks like September’s going to be a busy month for DC Comics and DC fans.
JUSTICE LEAGUE #31
“The Justice Doom War” part two! The culmination of Lex Luthor’s plan hinges on his beating the Justice League to the prize, ratcheting up the peril as the Year of the Villain continues! The Totality has shattered and its pieces have been tossed across space and time. Thus, the Justice League must also split apart, forming three search teams to comb the past, present, and future to re-combine the Totality before the Legion of Doom can get its villainous hands on the cosmic weapon. What allies will our heroes find in these other timelines? In the future, it’s the Last Boy on Earth, Kamandi! But in the past, there are the familiar faces of the Justice Society of America!
JUSTICE LEAGUE #32
“The Justice Doom War” part three! Things are getting dangerous across the time stream. On one side of time, the Justice League team finds heroic purpose; on the other, it’s a future full of chaos and trial. It’s the Totality in action. If they can’t stop Lex’s Legion across all fronts, there may be only one other option: embrace Doom!
