Hellboy Comes To Amazon Prime In July
by Erik Amaya
Did you miss the recent reboot of Hellboy? Considering its poor reception during its theatrical run, we’re going to guess you did. But if you have an Amazon Prime account, you can watch it next month without the added expense of going to the theater.
TV Insider notes the film, which starred Stranger Things‘ David Harbour as a the titular demon, will come to the service on July 23rd. For those of us going to Comic-Con, it may serve as something to watch while recovering from ConCrud. It may also serve as an interesting curio for those who saw the film come and go during its original release without making the effort and monetary investment to see it. But considering our own Ben Martin referred to the film as “cinematic purgatory,” it may not be the best film to nurse a cold or hangover with. Then again, it may end up being your cup of tea. I’m planning to see if it deserves Cheesy Weekend Movie treatment when it comes to the platform.
The film also features Milla Jovovich as recurring Hellboy comic book villain Nimue, Daniel Dae Kim as BPRD stalwart Ben Daimio, and Ian McShane as Hellboy’s adoptive father, Professor Trevor Bruttenholm.
And if the Hellboy remake isn’t your thing, Amazon’s take on The Boys, which launches just a few days later on July 26th, looks quite promising.
