A Wrinkle In Time’s Storm Reid To Join The Suicide Squad
by Erik Amaya
It seems A Wrinkle In Time‘s Storm Reid is joining the cast of James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad in a surprising role.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reid will play the daughter of Idris Elba’s unnamed character. Elba was originally set to play Deadshot in the film until both the actor and Gunn decided to set the character aside should Will Smith want to return in a subsequent film. The master assassin, also known as Floyd Lawton, does a lot of what he does for the sake of his daughter. It is a plot point in Suicide Squad and a meeting with her ends his character arc in that film.
From the information available, Gunn seemingly kept this aspect of Deadshot in the script while transferring it to a new character … or Elba is playing Floyd after all. Either way, Gunn is assembling a powerhouse cast which includes John Cena, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior and returning Task Force X members Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney. Viola Davis will also return as Amanda Waller while long-time Gunn associate Michael Rooker will reportedly voice King Shark.
The Suicide Squad comes to theaters on August 6th, 2021.
