Legends Of Tomorrow Finds Its Next Big Opponent In Constantine’s Past

by Erik Amaya

While the Season 4 finale of Legends of Tomorrow offered a big clue to the team’s next big adversary, EW has confirmed Astra Logue (Olivia Swann) will bedevil the ne’er-do-well time travelers when the series returns in 2020.

Astra is, of course, the young girl John Constantine (Matt Ryan) damned to Hell during that incident in Newcastle. The guilt plagued him for years, but it was only when he teamed up with the Legends and went to Hell to retrieve the soul of Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) that he discovered Astra acclimatized and became one of its best soul collectors. At the end of Season 4, she unleashed some of history’s greatest foes back into the world — including Casper Crump’s Vandal Savage — but her quest to become the best of the hellish best will be complicated by her relationship with Constantine. And vice versa.

“A lot of what Constantine is going to be dealing with this is season is his very complicated relationship with her and a desire to save her despite all the pain and trouble she’s putting us through,” Executive producer Keto Shimizu told the site. Although fellow EP Phil Klemmer noted the show has a habit of rehabilitating big bads. In fact, he pretty much stated his intention to redeem Vandal Savage after the character made a surprise return in the Season 4 finale.

Presumably, Astra’s rein of terror will begin after the Legends face the Crisis on Infinite Earths, which will continue across the winter break into its first episode.
